How is a dynamic iframe banner created?

We have a url to a banner that is to be iframed in the system, but we also want to track clicks on that banner. How is it done?

Answer:

Step 1: Book the Campaign

  • Book a default campaign
  • Add the creative
  • Use HTML Creative
  • The content of the HTML creative should be an iframe, where the url to the external file is added as src=
  • Step 1 finished

Normally when using HTML creatives and iframes the system can't track clicks. In order to track clicks, some extra modification of the iframed external creative has to be done.

Step 2: Modification of external creative

  • Generate click url to be used externally
  • Export click url from the campaign just being created, under Tasks and “Generate 3rd party code”.
  • In “Tag options”, chose “3rd party systems”.
  • Below the title “Click url below” is the click url being used.
  • In this click url, add parameter ”;EASLink=” in the end, and copy the entire url.
  • Send the copied url to the customer.
  • The link has to be added in front all existing urls in the iframed creative.
  • This process has to be fulfilled in order to track clicks.

Example 1:

Campaign with id=01234567.

Original automatically generated click url:

http://ad1.emediate.dk/eas?camp=01234567;ty=ct

Modified click url being sent to customer(Pleas note ;EASLink=):

http://ad1.emediate.dk/eas?camp=01234567;ty=ct;EASLink=

Example 2:

  • Originally the link in the external creative is:

http://www.domain.com

  • With click tracking it would be:

http://ad1.emediate.dk/eas?camp=01234567;ty=ct;EASLink=http://www.domain.com

  • Originally the link in the external creative is:

http://www.domain.com/news/article-read-it-here

  • With click tracking it would be:

http://ad1.emediate.dk/eas?camp=01234567;ty=ct;EASLink=http://www.domain.com/news/article-read-it-here
